In a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chaves, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad praised his host’s positions and support for the resistance, saying that resistance is not terrorism but an alternative to negotiations when the latter fail to produce peace. He criticized the U.N. and the international community, which, he said, do not represent the will of the majority of nations but are controlled by a few countries that want to rule the world.
Assad added that Syria’s support of Iran’s aspiration to attain nuclear technology for peaceful purposes was motivated by Syria’s own aspiration to attain such technology in the future.
